VOOR PAARDEBERG. First settled in 1685 by Martin Pouisson, a French Hugenot refugee from religious persecution, the title deeds were granted in 1707. Pouisson named the farm “Slent”.

We decided to take a detour back to our Italian roots and introduce a truly Italian cultivar to this unique terroir of the Voor Paardeberg. This historical event saw the meeting of two countries becoming one.

Grapes
The exceptional terroir of the Voor Paardeberg ward and the grapes cultivated in the area has been the source of various international wine awards. It is the location of this ward that makes it so unique.
The mountain slopes of the Paardeberg, together with the soil composition and prevailing winds, create a specific quality in the grapes. The wines produced here have the potential to become part of the elite wines of the country.

Bouquet and aroma
Carignan is an expression of dark cherry fruit, blueberries, violet and other floral aromas along with notes of orange peel, black liquorice and cocoa. Well bodied with fine tannin with excellent potential for ageing.
